Composition:
Each 1ml Solution contains 5.12mg of levofloxacin hemihydrate، equivalent to 5mg levofloxacin.
Mechanism of action:
Levofloxacin belongs to a quinolone antibiotic، and kills a wide variety of bacteria that cause infection.
Levofloxacin works by entering the bacterial cells and inhibiting a bacterial enzyme known as DNA-gyrase. This enzyme is essential for bacteria to replicate and repair the genetic material (DNA).
Levofloxacin is effective against gram positive bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus، Streptococcus pneumonia، Streptococcus pyogenes، and gram negative bacteria: Moraxella catarrhlis، Haemophilus influenza، Neisseria gonorrhea، Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Indications:
Floxamina is used to treat eye infections caused by levofloxacin susceptible microorganisms. Floxamina can be used to treat the purulent complications after ocular surgery.
Dosage:
For all ages، 1–2 drops in the affected eye(s) every two to four hours for the first two days and then four times daily.
The length of treatment should not exceed ten days.
Side Effects:
It may cause: Itching، burning، stinging، irritation، headache، painful sensation in the eye، eyelid edema، blepharitis، rhinitis، dermatitis.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any of ingredients.
Precautions:
It should be used with caution in children.
Do not wear contact lenses while you are taking levofloxacin eye drops.
Do not apply levofloxacin eye drops sub conjunctiva or directly to ocular anterior chamber.
Do not touch the tube opening to any surface to avoid contamination.
Do not use other ophthalmic solutions while you are taking levofloxacin.
Use in pregnancy or lactation:
Pregnancy category C
Levofloxacin should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Caution should be exercised when Floxamina is administered to nursing mothers.
