Al-Arabi Bin Mahidi est l’une des personnes courageuses et honorables qui ont participé à la libération de l’Algérie du colonialisme, et tout au long de l’histoire, il a eu des réalisations et des contributions inoubliables, notamment:

Il a eu une grande activité dans les scouts car il a participé au Scout Raja Regiment en 1941.
Il avait une grande activité dans le théâtre où il a participé à une pièce intitulée Dans le chemin de la couronne en 1944.
Il avait une grande activité dans le sport où il a pratiqué le sprint et a rejoint l’équipe de football appelée l’Union sportive militaire.
Il a travaillé comme comptable au service d’approvisionnement de la caserne militaire française et a pu y faire passer deux pistolets.
Il a travaillé comme commis dans la branche Ahbab al-Bayan et al-Hurriya à Biskra, à la demande d’Ahmed al-Sharif Saadan.

والديه هم عبد الرحمن بن مسعود وعائشة اضي بن حمو ولقد ولد في عام 1923 في مشتة حدادة ووالده كان تاجر تبغ وله مصنع في الخروب أغلقه له الفرنسيون ولقد إنتقلوا إلى بسكرة عام 1937 وعمل والدة في التمور وأكمل العربي تعليمه في بسكرة .

العربي بن مهيدي واحد من البواسل الشرفاء الذين شاركوا في تحرير الجزائر من الإستعمار وكان له على مر التاريخ إنجازات ومشاركات لا تنسى منها :

كان له نشاط كبير في الكشافة حيث إشترك في فوج الرجاء الكشفي سنة 1941 .
كان له نشاط كبير في المسرح حيث شارك في مسرحية بعنوان في سبيل التاج سنة 1944 .
كان له نشاط كبير في الرياضة حيث مارس العدو وإنضم إلى فريق كرة القدم المسمى الإتحاد الرياضي البسكري .
عمل كمحاسب في مصلحة التموين التابعة للثكنة العسكرية الفرنسية وإستطاع تهريب مسدسين منها .
عمل ككاتب في فرع حركة أحباب البيان والحرية ببسكرة بتكليف من أحمد الشريف سعدان .
عمل على تثقيف وتعليم المنخرطين الجدد في حركة أحباب البيان والحرية ببسكرة .
شارك في مظاهرات ماي 1945 في منطقة الشرق الجزائري وكان يتواجد في الصفوف الأولى حاملًا العلم الجزائري .
أعتقل كواحد من أبرز مناضلي حركة أحباب البيان والحرية .
تعرض للتعزيب بتهمة التظاهر ورفع العلم لمدة واحد وهشرون يومًا .
كان له نشاط واضح مع حزب الشعب الجزائري .
إستطاع شراء الأسلحة من التجار الموجودين على الحدود الجزائرية التونسية .
تولى مهمة الإشراف على المنظمة .
عين نائب لمسئول المنظمة .

تم القبض عليه في عين تموشنت ولكنه استطاع الهرب والعودة إلى الجزائر .
ساعد في إعادة تكوين وتشكيل قواعد الحزب مرة أخرى في مدينة سيدي بلعباس .
كان له العديد من الاتصالات مع العربي طيبي وعابد الصحراوي مثلًا .
كان كثير التردد على المناضلين في وهران وغيرها لجمع شملهم مرة أخرى .
شارك في تأسيس جبهة جيش التحرير الوطني .
شارك في تأسيس مجموعة أو إجتماع ال 22 .
يعتبر المفجر الرئيسي لثورة الغرب الجزائري .
كان العربي بن مهيدي هو قائد عملية حرق مركز الفرنان بأحفير-صبرة في 1نوفمبر 1954 .
