لا أحد ينكر فضل المعلم في حياتنا فهو من يساعدنا على ترك ظلام الجهل والتمتع بنور العلم والمعرفة فحياتنا سينقصها الكثير أن فقدنا القدرة على القراءة أو الحساب أو حتى طريقة تعلم المهن اليدوية الصحيحة وتعتبر وظيفة المعلم من أسمى وأصعب الوظائف الموجودة وذلك لما يتحمله المعلم من وقوف متواصل في الفصل وشرح يرهق حنجرته ويؤثر على صوته وقضاء وقت كثير في الإعداد وتحضير الدروس المطلوب شرحها ومجهود بدني ونفسي يوميًا من متابعة الواجبات وإعطاء الدرجات في الأسئلة والإختبارات وتسجيل مدى تقدم الطلبه وملاحظة الطلبة ومحاولة إشراكهم في الموضوعات المختلفة هذا بالإضافة إلى المجهود المبذول في إيصال المعلومة لأنماط شخصيات مختلفة ومستويات عقلية متفاوته وهو ما يعتبر من أصعب طرق التعامل بين البشر فهو لا يتحدث معهم فحسب إنما يناقشهم مرارًا وتكرارًا حتى يتأكد من وصول المعلومات بصورة صحيحة لجميع الطلاب والمعلم هنا لا يستخدم المعلومات بصورتها المجردة إنما يحاول جاهدًا تبسيط المعلومة وإستخدام جميع الوسائل المتاحة التي تساعد على شد إنتباه الطلاب وعدم تشتت تركيزهم وزيادة فهمهم للموضوع .

للمعلم سمات شخصية يجب توافرها للتعامل مع الطلاب منها القدرة على ضبط النفس والصبر والتعاون والتواضع والجدية وبالطبع الذكاء الإجتماعي الذي يجعله يستطيع التعامل مع جميع الطلاب هذا بالإضافة إلى إتقانه للمادة التي يقوم بشرحها فهو الموجه والقائد الذي يتبعه طلابه ويتعلمون منه المواد الدراسية والمناهج المختلفة والتصرفات الشخصية وطرق التصرف في المواقف الحياتية المختلفه أيضًا فهو يربي قبل أن يدرس وهو من ينشر الصفات الحميدة وسط الطلاب وينمي مهاراتهم فوظيفة المعلم لا تقتصر على شرح الدروس فقط وإنما هي وظيفة إرشاد وتوجيه نحو الطريق الصحيح وهو من يحفز ويشجع الطلبة على أن يحلموا ويسعوا إلى تحقيق هذا الحلم فالمعلم هو الصديق وفرد العائلة الذي يقابله الطلاب يوميًا لفترات لا تعتبر قصيرة ويتفاعلون معه ويرتبطون به والمعلم الناجح هو من يتابع التطور الذي يحدث في منهجه وطرق تدريسه ويأخذ المبادره في أن يكون هو طالب العالم قبل أن يكون مقدمه ليتعلم كل ما هو جديد ليفيد به أبناءه الطلاب .
